Choosing a template for the double paged spread proved to be tricky, however after researching different styles and trying them out as templates, we were happy with the last style.
Originally our plan had been focused on London Fashion Week as we had found from research that women we were targeting our magazine to preferred to read about fashion.
However we began to realise that in fact, we could put together a story which was more interesting and based in the area, therefore proving to be regional. Therefore we changed the theme of the double paged spread and also the rest of the content of the magazine to Kensington&Chelsea Fashion Week.
We were careful in choosing the picture, colours and text as the double page spread linked in with Breast Cancer Awareness, we wanted the audience to be able to see that.
We decided on this photo as a woman was in the picture, this would hail the audience as the woman was within their age group - just a little younger, therefore they would be interesting in learning more about the article.
On most pictures within magazines they are Photo-shopped with a typical style. Therefore we took inspiration from this and created our own effects using tools. We were able to change the amount of red, blue and yellow within the picture, therefore creating a stylish effect. This created a more professional look which supports the style of the magazine.
After the picture was photo-shopped, it was put into InDesign. This is because InDesign is especially made for magazines. It made it to place text and images into place.
The Final Product was done, with all the final features placed onto it.
However after some contemplation, we decided the image quality was not good enough to be placed onto a magazine, especially serving as a basis of a double-paged spread. Also, the theme of Brest Cancer Awareness was not coming through due to the colours of the picture and there was no obvious signs as magazines tend to have. Therefore we changed the picture to something more related to Breast Cancer Awareness, using two models to pose as Breast Cancer Trust volunteers. This made it obvious what the article was about and by using two models who seemed to be normal people, the audience will be more interested as it is more relatable. Using the colour pink as the background allows the audience to focus on the main picture and the colour pink runs throughout the magazine, tying in with the theme.
