Whilst searching for radio adverts for magazines on YouTube, I found that not many were available. This led me to believe that a radio advert for magazines are quite uncommon, however I did find a radio advert for Love It Magazine. I realised quite soon into the advert that a few vulgar words were spoken by the narrator who was Danny Dyer, however this may fit in with the magazine as it is quite a cheap magazine (68p) which is centred on stories which are rare and weird.
The narration is spoken quite loudly in a voice used for shouting. This is to capture the reader’s attention, and it helps the listener understand the content of the speech. It is spoken by a man, which may be uncommon due to the magazine being catered towards women; however a male voice can be seen as dominating therefore persuading women to buy it.
The language used in the advert contains some obscene words. This may seem funny to the listeners which may lead to them buying the magazine. By the language used, the people intended to listen to this magazine can be said to be women in their 20’s and upwards.
During the course of the advert the message of the advert is to interest the reader by poking fun at the stories and pointing out how weird they are. This may get the interest of the reader to grow and thus buy the magazine. The advert homes in on every story on the front page and muses on them. Whilst doing this after every story the narrator repeats ‘You’ll love it!’ with great enthusiasm. This reinforces the title of the magazine and gets the name of the magazine into the head of the listener. By using the title it allows us to make sense of the masthead as it is used in context.
Radio Advertisements for regional magazines more than likely just don't exist, therefore I began to look at how other companies advertise their products and find out how to make our radio advert as successful as theirs.
Another radio advert I looked at was the Mr T Snickers radio advert. This was a very effective radio advert and the message of the story was essentially that if you eat a Snickers chocolate bar then you will be 'manly' enough to do anything. This is reinforced by the catchphrase at the end of the radio advert which is 'Get some nuts'.
In the radio advert a man rings up to understand how to put together a product due to the instruction manual not being correct, however the man who is supposed to help him tells him to stop reading the manual and to eat a chocolate bar. Although it may seem ridiculous when looking back at it, during the course of the advert, the idea doesn't seem funny which is why I chose this advert as it was effective in putting across its message.
The use of actors in the radio advert is also important in this particular advertisement. This is due to them using Mr T, who used to be actor of the A Team which was a TV Series. This man used to be seen as quite 'hard' so using him for a radio advert telling other men to 'Get some nuts' allows the advertisement to be impressive.
This advert's target audience would be men from 18+, however women may find the advert funny and think about having one too. Although the advert is definitely targeted at men, the fact that its not targeted at women may make women feel like they should still have it. Therefore the advert is reaching everyone.
The language used is quite funny which allows the audience to have a laugh and make the advert even more effective. I could in-cooperate the elements used in this advertisement to make my regional magazine radio advert very effective.
Another radio advertisement that I researched was Lipton Green Leaf Tea radio advert. This advert took on a different approach than other adverts. The advert asked people from different ethnicities to say if they liked the tea. The response was 'Mmm' but in different accents so the audience could understand the different area's of the world that people were from.
This is different to the other adverts I have looked at as it uses many people in the advert to reinforce how nice the Tea is.
The interviewer is a male and says the name of the place where the interviewee is from. Then at the end the interviewer says 'It sounds like everyone loves the taste of Lipton Green Tea'. This is effective because they have used accents of people from all around the world to make this phrase seem real.
The language contains a lot of repetitive phrases such as 'Mmm' This is essentially to reinforce to the audience that Lipton Green Tea is enjoyed everywhere therefore the listener will like the particular type of Tea too.
I believe that the radio advert is catered towards people from 25+ above due to the voices that they used sounding like they come from an older person.
Overall the advertisement is effective and by using a different approach it allows the radio advertisement to be unique.

All 3 ads have a male voice over. Have you found out why this is?
